...and I don't mean that kind of cheap. Actually, they don't really think I'm cheap, more of that I do all kinds of different things that most people don't think of to save money or to get a really good deal. My sister, in particular, sometimes laughs at the things I do but it's all in fun because she knows that's how I'm able to afford some of the things I purchase. So I decided to try and share some of these things when I think of them. My goal is once a week. We'll see what happens.
One of the things that I am doing right now is we have a checking account through Bank of American Fork that earns 4% interest (Another bank just started doing 5% - Deseret First Credit Union). It's actually our savings account. It does have some requirements: 1 direct deposit and 12 debit card transactions per month. This is why you will see me at Walmart's self check out buying a pack of gum. My 12 transactions are all less than $1 and sometimes even less than $.50 and they are always purchases we would be buying anyhow. Then, part of my husband's paycheck is direct deposited into our "savings" account. You may laugh and question if it's really worth it. It is. Trust me when I tell you that we earn enough interest throughout the year to make it worth it.
