My kids absolutely love getting mail and a package is even better than me giving them the junk mail and catalogs, so I sign up for free samples for them. Actually, I sign up for free samples under our dog's name. Then when I get junk mail as a result of the free sample, I automatically know since it's addressed to the dog. Another tip is I have a junk email address that I use when I sign up for any free samples. Then the junk email doesn't clog up my main email address.
As a side note, I have NEVER received a call from a telemarketer as a result of signing up for free samples and I have done it for years using my actual phone number. (And I would know for sure because they would be asking for my dog.) Come to think of it, I really don't get that many junk emails either.
I also always sign up for free samples of diapers, razors, pads, tampons, shampoos, lotions, etc. and keep them in a basket in the guest bathroom. It's always handy to have products in other brands for your guests or to throw in a travel bag or emergency kit.
